Description | The Dixon School Board approved a solar contract with Solar One to install solar panels on school buildings and fields, aiming to save approximately $500,000 over seven years in energy costs. The district will purchase power at a fixed rate of 3.6 cents per kilowatt hour for seven years, less than the current rate paid to ComEd. The contract is a 15-year commitment to operate the system, which has a life of 30 years, with options to extend or purchase the equipment after seven years. Installation is planned for late summer 2026 on the roofs of Dixon High School and Washington Elementary, and in the fields behind Jefferson Elementary and Reagan Middle School. |
