Description | This project involves the provision of a USD 10.75 million financial package to Intercontinental Investment Bank Djibouti SA or “IIB Djibouti” (formerly known as International Investment Bank Djibouti SA till May 7 2025). The facility includes: (i) a trade finance line of credit (TFLOC) of an amount up to USD 8 million spread over 3.5 years with a 3-year grace period ; (ii) a 3-year transaction guarantee (TG) facility of USD 2 million to support IIB-Djibouti’s trade finance activities and (iii) a USD 750,000 AFAWA grant from the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi) approved by the We-Fi technical review committee on 26 May 2025. This grant should be disbursed no later than 31 December 2027 and closed no later than 30 June 2028, in accordance with the funding schedule approved by the We-Fi Governing Council for the deployment of AFAWA’s projects. The project will support SMEs and other local businesses that are active in import and export. The treasury facility and guarantee line backed by the Bank's AAA rating will support Djibouti’s economy by facilitating imports of renewable energy, manufacturing and telecommunication equipment, and basic food products. |
