Djibouti - Urban Poverty Reduction Programme Support Project

The present project concerns the additional UA 0.800 million grant to the Urban Poverty Reduction Project (PREPUD). This grant provides additional funding for PREPUD components, namely: (i) capacity building; and (ii) access to basic socio-economic infrastructure and iii) monitoring and evaluation. It seeks to address the negative effects on people’s lives due to the financial crisis and the repetitive food droughts in the country by strengthening the initial activities of PREPUD. The justification for the intervention is to assist in responding to needs by identifying pockets of poverty, to help create jobs and to measure the impact of actions in the field. The PREPUD is part of a programme of the same name co-financed by four donors (AFD, ADB, IsDB and WB) and the Government of Djibouti. It aims to improve the living conditions of the people of Djibouti.
