Description

Description

After 27 editions, DocsBarcelona is the most relevant non-fiction film festival and market in Spain and one of the most prestigious points of reference for the documentary industry in Europe. The main strengths of DocsBarcelona include its key geographical position as a strategic point of reference in southern Europe between the North and South of the Mediterranean and a bridge between Latin America and Europe; networking and business opportunities with renowned professionals within accessible reach; a high quality 360º formation offer including year-round programs with a strong focus on emerging talent, and a combination of a partial local focus with a broad international reach. DocsBarcelona follows six main objectives. First, fostering business opportunities in the non-fiction ecosystem by establishing strategic alliances with the main national and international industry agents, organizing activities like the Public Pitch, the Rough Cut Pitch, the New Tech Pitch and the Speed Meetings with a panel of +70 decision-makers, and forming networks with festivals and markets. Second, cultivating professional development, with a special focus on new talent, through an array of market activities and programs like the Campus Lab and the Campus New Talent. Third, promoting innovative non-fiction projects and the use of new technologies through spaces like i+Docs and of activities in collaboration with some of the main agents in the field, such as Sónar+D and MediaPro, and the integration of new technologies within the DocsBarcelona organization. Fourth, enhancing the worldwide presence of European film professionals and projects through initiatives like the Iberian Documentary Catalog, the VideoLibrary and a wide selection of Industry Awards. Fifth and sixth, encouraging gender and diversity representativity, and elevating sustainability consciousness and highlighting the importance of the Green Deal, both among participants, the public, and within the company management.
