The development objective of the Disaster Risk Management Development Policy Loan with a Deferred Drawdown Option for Catastrophe Risks Project for Dominican Republic is to support the Government of the Dominican Republic in: (a) strengthening institutions for improved climate and disaster resilience in priority sectors; and (b) establishing mandatory regulations for climate and disaster risk reduction in public investment and construction works. The program has two pillars: Pillar A - Strengthening institutions for improved climate and disaster resilience in priority sectors; and Pillar B - Establishing mandatory regulations for climate and disaster risk reduction in public investment and construction works. The policy reforms supported by the proposed operation ensure the sustainability of the Government’s efforts and commitment to a holistic approach to disaster risk reduction based on accountability and international best practices adapted to the context of the Dominican Republic.
