Description | CF Industries has started operations of a new CO2 dehydration and compression facility at its Donaldsonville fertiliser complex in Louisiana, USA. The facility enables production of around 1.9 million tonnes of low-carbon or 'blue' ammonia per year. The project includes carbon capture and storage, with ExxonMobil as a partner. Currently, ExxonMobil is using the captured CO2 for enhanced oil recovery on an interim basis while awaiting final permits for dedicated geological storage at the Rose CCS site in Texas. CF Industries also plans to retrofit its Yazoo City complex with CO2 capture infrastructure, estimated to cost $100 million, with transportation and storage handled by ExxonMobil. |
