Donetskoblenergo was an energy transmission company which operated the power distribution grids in the Donetsk region. As of January 1, 2009, Donetskoblenergo had 69,700 km of transmission lines providing electricity to the Donetsk region, of which 7,500 km had loads of 35-110 kW. The company owns 371 transformer substations with an overall capacity of 8,310 MV In April 2008, DTEK had 30.59% stake in Donetskoblenergo and was the largest minority shareholder of Donetskoblenergo. The state-owned Energy Company of Ukraine owned 65.06%. In January 2012, DTEK won a competitive tender for an additional 40.1% of the company's equity. DTEK then owned 71.3% of the company. The bid totaled 467.6 million ($58.5 million) for the portion. Donetskoblenergo's major customers were households (40.5%), the housing and communal sector (18.15) and the industrial sector which accounted for less than 20%.
