The Donghae1 Floating Offshore Wind Farm project is a floating offshore wind farm project in Korea. It utilizes the jacket structure of the gas production platform, Donghae 1, which ceased its gas production by the end of 2021. The project reuses the existing gas production platform jacket as the substructure, enclosed by a number of floating turbines. It is expected to produce 780,000 MWh of electricity annually, enough for about 260,000 households. The project aims to reduce investment costs, minimize marine pollution during decommissioning works, and create about 16,000 new employment opportunities during the construction period. It aligns with the Government's 'Renewable Energy 3020 Implementation Plan' and the global trend of greenhouse gas reduction.
