Description | The Dorjilung Hydropower Project (DHPP) is a 1.13GW run-of-river hydropower scheme on the Kurichhu River in Bhutan. It is being developed by the Royal Government of Bhutan through a special purpose vehicle owned by Druk Green Power Corporation (60%) and Tata Power (40%). The project includes a 139.5m high concrete gravity dam, reservoir, diversion tunnels, a 14.97km headrace tunnel, and an underground powerhouse with six Francis turbine units. It aims to increase Bhutan's energy exports by 42% and produce over 4,500 GWh annually, supporting thousands of jobs and reducing seasonal supply shortfalls. |
