Information East Coast Railway [ECoR] - II has come up with Doubling of Kirandul-Jagdalpur Line [150 km] with a ticket size of 1440 INR Crores. This project in Railway Track sub-sector involves The current status of the project is - and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project The proposed double line is part of an important rail link between Kottavalasa-Kirandul [445 km] popularly known as KK line connecting Ananthagiri ghats and Bailadilla Mines. The proposed section between Kirandul-Jagdalpur [150 km] is divided into three sections namely, Jagdalpur to Silakjori 45.50 km, Kirandul to Gidam 52.23 km and Silakjori to Gidam 52.73 km. Further, the section traverses through hilly terrain, forest area and interior locations of Bastar and Dantewada Districts of Chattisgarh State and is a Left Wing Extremists [LWE] infested area. The proposed rail line would meet increasing traffic demand for movement of iron ore expected on account of expansion and diversification projects of M/s. National Mineral Development Corporation [NMDC] Limited. The project will also ensure an efficient transportation link for evacuation of increased iron ore output from the new iron ore projects being developed by NMDC, demands from other users, pig iron from NMDCs Iron and Steel Plant [NISP] coming up at Nagarnar, Chattisgarh. The original date of start was May 2013 and original date for completion was 31.01.2019. As on date Section between Jagdalpur to Kaklur and Dabpal to Dantewada [total 85.22 Km] Commossioned. Two more sections i.e. Kaklur-Kawargaon-Dabpal [21.2 Km] also ready for commissioning shortly. Maoist activities hampering the progress of works between Kaklur-Kirandul stations [83 km]. The work suffers badly due to incidents of beating staff and damage/burning of contractual machinery. Financial progress [as on 31.07.2022]- 77percentage
