Douro Fire Station Reconfiguration

The fire station will be reconfigured to a fire post-disaster building and the storage area repurposed for use by Public Works. Key components of the project include: · Filling in floor grates, removing the oil furnace, installing three heating systems and removing the vestibule attachment; · Re-purposing the ancillary space, which includes removing an office and the lunchroom, and installing a proper washroom with ventilation and a shower stall; · Upgrading the HVAC system for better air quality throughout the building; · Installing an exhaust fan to meet Ontario Building Code requirements; · Upgrading windows to allow for more natural light and to improve energy efficiency; · Upgrading the septic system; · Increasing indoor storage for fire vehicles to allow for a longer vehicle lifecycle; · Increasing health and safety protection for staff by separating the fire department from the Public Works storage area; and Ensuring bunker gear is more easily accessible to allow firefighters to respond to calls more quickly.
