"ANDERS (17, neuro-diverse) steals a deadly spider from Dublin Zoo in order to return it to the Amazon Basin. A feature film for young adults set between Ireland and Brazil. We wish to apply for support to develop a creatively ambitious and exciting new feature film for young adults (ages 12-17). Morgan Creative, a production company on the west coast of Ireland working through Irish, will team up with Zulfilmes, a company based in Lisboa, Portugal. Both companies will creatively collaborate on the screenplay and on a shared development trip to Brazil, where a thorough location scout will be conducted, as well as meetings with potential co-production partners in the region. This support will enable us to recruit a co-writer and a script editor for our application, so that we can produce a strong screenplay draft. The script will consist of both Irish language dialogue and Portuguese. In addition to the shared tasks, Morgan Creative will conduct market research for the project and create a detailed pitch deck containing imagery and mood-boards designed in consultation with a cinematographer recruited by Zulfilmes. Zulfilmes will conduct research on the sensitive aspects of our story (which include ecological destruction in the Amazon Rainforest, the International Deaf Community and indigenous communities in the Amazon in Brazil). ""Down by the River"" is an adventure story that deals with important themes for our world (climate change, neuro-diversity, disability and grief) in an exhilarating and entertaining way."
