Downtown Eastside Neighbourhood House Society - Interior Renovation Project

The project includes renovation and expansion of the Downtown Eastside Neighbourhood House in Vancouver. The expanded space would allow the Downtown Eastside Neighbourhood House Society to offer more programs and serve more clients. The expanded space would include an industrial kitchen, rooms for programming and storage. The building’s landlord, Community Impact Real Estate Society, is gutting the building to complete mechanical work and leaving the applicant with an unfinished shell space. The project involves interior work in that space as well as expansion to an adjacent property. The expanded space would allow the applicant to offer more programs, provide services to more clients and to re-design the space so that is functionally and aesthetically suited to its purpose as a community hub for vulnerable populations, including Indigenous people. The project works will include: - Community kitchen; - Washrooms; - Foyer; - Programming areas; - Staff areas and janitorial facilities; - Storage; - HVAC, plumbing and electrical; and, - Related works
