DP World Santos (Embraport) PPP Project

The acquisition involves the Embraport, a private multipurpose terminal at Brazil's Santos port. The project is expected to ease congestion at the port, and will be carried out in two phases.The first phase of the project involves the construction of a building, 700 m pier, which will handle 400,000 TEUs and 2M m3 of ethanol each year.The second phase will involve expanding the pier to 1 km and increasing capacity to 2 million TEUs per year, which is scheduled for completion in 2015.The project will improve Santos port's capacity to receive post-panamax ships, reducing waiting times. It will also contribute to improving traffic conditions in the city, and will be located away from the Santos area.Following DP World's acquisition of an additional 66.67% stake in the project and total ownership amounting to 100%, the terminal will be rebranded to DP World Santos.
