Description

Description

The Dr. Williams House is a midcentury modern home designed by architect Paul R. Williams in 1947 for Dr. Robert N. Williams. The two-story house features board and batten siding, overhanging flat roofs, a slanted ceiling in the living room, and floor-to-ceiling windows facing a large backyard. The home retains many original features including hardwood floors, cabinetry built by woodworker Sam Maloof, and has been largely unrestored since its construction. It is located on a double lot at 205 E. 6th St. in Ontario, California, and is designated as Ontario Landmark No. 82. The house was constructed under the supervision of architect Don Williamson, a disciple of Frank Lloyd Wright, who worked from concept sketches by Paul R. Williams. The house was built with a unique orientation to maximize square footage on the lot, and the original owner spent $40,000 on the house and land. As of 2017, the home was for sale to the public for the first time in its 70-year history.
