Description
Description | The project aims to influence urban planning and create new practices for developing socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable cities. The project explores the potential of art in the development of the Nordic urban housing areas, and promotes a more inclusive approach to their renewal. The objectives contribute to preservation and tender regeneration of social and cultural heritage that exist in the housing areas. Furthermore, the the project strengthens art initiative’s, citizen’s, policymakers and urban planning expert’s ability to shape urban development through art. This amplifies the economic competitiveness of art and culture. Dreaming Suburbs encourages residents across age, race, class, and ability to participate in the development of their surroundings, starting from their own perspective, and expanding it through art. With the work packages, we build capacity about more inclusive ways of urban renewal and share our findings with local actors, art institutions, scholars, and artists who work within housing areas. The culmination of these efforts manifests in a festival, exhibition, seminar, and publication, presenting the valuable findings derived from this inclusive and community-driven process. |
