Description
Description | Objectives and target group. The aim of the FC measure is to contribute to continuous, hygienic and ecologically correct and economically efficient water supply and wastewater disposal (WV/AE) in the city of Granada (project objective/module objective). The overarching development policy objective of the FC measure is to sustainably improve the population's access to affordable and qualitatively appropriate drinking water and sanitation services on the basis of improved framework conditions for sustainable management of water resources (overall objective/DC program objective). The target group of the FC measure is the approximately 131,000 inhabitants of the city of Granada in 2020. Main funding approach. The FC measure includes the rehabilitation and expansion of the drinking water supply and wastewater disposal systems (WV/AE) in Granada. As part of the investment measures (main measure), the following construction components are financed: 1) sewage network, 2) wastewater treatment, 3) drinking water network. A personnel support measure (A+F measure) accompanying the measure is intended to enable the project sponsor to operate the rehabilitated or expanded water supply/sewage disposal systems independently, efficiently and sustainably from an economic and technical point of view. Accompanying information and awareness-raising measures at the target group level are intended to help raise the population's awareness of the basics of ecologically and economically viable water supply and wastewater disposal. The costs for the investment measure (main measure) amount to the equivalent of around EUR 33.8 million; the costs of the personnel support measure (A+F measure) remain unchanged at EUR 0.9 million. The total costs (including the A+F measure) will be covered by 78% (EUR 27.2 million) from German FC funds, 12% (equivalent to EUR 4.2 million) from the Japanese-Nicaraguan counterpart fund, 6% (EUR 1.9 million) from ENACAL's own funds, and 4% (EUR 1.4 million) from the Nicaraguan state's own funds. |
