The provision of municipal and social infrastructure is being promoted as part of the development cooperation programme Improvement of decentralised public services in the Republic of Moldova. The aim of the development cooperation module is to improve the water supply and wastewater disposal of the population in Cahul in terms of sustainability, access and supply/disposal security. In order to ensure sustainable operation, the technical and economic capacities of the municipal utility company Apa Canal Cahul (ACC) are being strengthened through an accompanying measure. The measures aim to contribute to improving the living conditions of the population, as well as to environmental protection and the protection of natural resources. The target group includes all residents of Cahul who are already connected to the water supply system (approx. 32,000 people). The project is closely linked to the sanitation initiative (2016 68 904) and is to be carried out in parallel.
