Description
Description | This project is an open program that now includes five different phases. The FC funds from these phases will be pooled to finance the following individual infrastructure projects in the rapidly growing city of Santa Cruz Supply area of the SAGUAPAC water cooperative - New construction of the sewage network in the Distrito 12 district for 20,000 people (construction work completed at the end of 2019, financed by funds from Phase I) - New construction of the Motacusal sewage treatment plant in the northeast of Santa Cruz to treat the sewage of 250,000 people (Phase II-V, in implementation since the beginning of 2020) - Installation of around 30,200 connections and almost 400 km of secondary networks to feed the area's sewage to the Motacusal sewage treatment plant (Phase V) - Modernization of the East sewage treatment plant and construction of another main collector to drain the treated sewage (Bolivian own contribution) Supply area of the COSCHAL and COSPAIL water cooperatives - Improvement of drinking water quality (currently too high concentration of minerals) for 20,000 people - Improvement of the quality of supply (currently frequent supply interruptions) for 20,000 people. This is intended to contribute to improving the living and health conditions of the population as well as the environmental situation in the city of Santa Cruz. The city of Santa Cruz is acting as the program sponsor and, once construction work has been completed, will transfer the financed infrastructure to the responsible water cooperatives, who will then be responsible for operation and maintenance. The cooperatives are heavily involved in the planning and implementation of the projects right from the implementation stage. The cost of the program is EUR 124.7 million. EUR 88.1 million from phases I-V will be covered by Financial Cooperation (FC). Bolivia's own contribution totals EUR 36.6 million. |
