DC4Biathletes addresses the priority of promoting education in and through sport - encouraging Dual Careers of Athletes. The project aims to fill the gap and create a framework that is highly relevant to biathlon sports discipline in consideration of extreme sports demands and high dropout rates. The project has three key objectives: 1. Champion Inclusion and Cultural Diversity by utilising multinational research team to infuse the project with a broad range of cultural perspectives. 2. Empower Athletes with Dual Career Support by tailoring support specifically for biathletes to manage the unique demands of their sport alongside educational and career aspirations. 3. Enhance Knowledge and Safeguard Athlete Development by conducting comprehensive research and analysis on the dual career trajectories of young biathletes, integrating findings from previuos EU Sport programs into educational content delivered through the mobile application. The project objectives will be attained through: Mapping existing Dual Career guidelines, conducting literature review on Dual Career in young athletes and carrying review on available support programs for Biathlon discipline; Conducting research on dual career, challenges and demands; Reviewing current status of young biathlon athletes in terms of their Dual Career in partners’ countries; Creating evidence based, educational content (research results and expert knowledge); Building an easy to navigate mobile application that will offer e-learning content and conducting the Workshops. The expected results and outputs from the project are: a better understanding of dual careers in biathlon discipline, current status on the available programs; Increased awareness and knowledge of dual career by young biathlon athletes; a mobile application with evidence based content that supports education and skill development of young biathletes.
