Description
Description | Emirates has begun construction on a US$5.1 billion state-of-the-art engineering and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Dubai South. This mega-project aims to become the world’s most advanced and capacious aviation engineering hub, designed to streamline fleet maintenance, elevate flight safety, and protect travelers against long-haul airport disruptions. The facility will cover 1.1 million square metres and will be capable of servicing up to 28 widebody aircraft simultaneously, including Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 fleets. The project includes the world's largest free-span hangar, extensive repair workshops, logistics centers, and training facilities. Construction is led by China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) with Artelia as the project consultant. The facility targets LEED Platinum environmental certification and is expected to be fully operational by mid-2030. |
