The project involves the Third and Final Masterplan (3FM) needed to complete the development of Dublin Port and bring it to its ultimate and final capacity by 2040 in Ireland. The project has seven main elements: A new 2.2km Southern Port Access Road (SPAR) will link the north and south port areas and will include a 190m bridge, with a 45m lifting section to the east of the Tom Clarke Bridge. Giving port traffic and other heavy goods traffic on the Poolbeg Peninsula a designated route will divert heavy goods traffic from local roadways. The container terminal in front of the ESB’s Poolbeg Power Station has the capacity to handle 353,000 units (600,000 TEU) annually. The construction of a new Roll On / Roll Off (Ro-Ro) terminal north of the Sean Moore Roundabout. With Brexit, there will be an increase in the amount of direct traffic coming from Europe, and this 12.6-ha site will accept trucks with containers. A new 325 m ship turning circle in front of Pigeon House Harbour. A 1-ha utility area to accommodate third-party services, such as the district heating system that will be supplied by the Covanta waste-to-energy plant. A new 'Maritime Village' which will provide enhanced facilities for a range of users including sailing and rowing clubs, sea scouts, the Nautical Trust and local boat owners. Community Facilities including a 2.8 ha Port Park, an adjacent landscaped area with 5G floodlit playing pitches, a dog run, 5.5 km of active cycle and pedestrian paths.
