Description

Description

The optimization testing at Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant is to determine the Plant’s capability to reliably achieve an effluent soluble reactive phosphorus (SRP) concentration of 0.1 mg/L and 0.05 mg/L. Testing will establish primary and secondary dosing rates and locations for ferric chloride and polymer dosing. The laboratory data will be collected throughout the field testing to identify impacts on the biological activated sludge handling and solids handling processes at the plant. The testing will also characterize the performance and define the capacity of the primary and secondary clarifiers for total suspended solids (TSS) and particulate phosphorous removal, determine the final effluent characteristics, and assess operational risk factors for sustaining an SRP removal rate of 0.1 mg/L or lower.
