Description | Duke Energy is undertaking multiple infrastructure improvement projects in Southeastern North Carolina to prepare for the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season. These include upgrading poles and wires, replacing wood transmission poles with steel poles, adding flood protections to substations, and expanding self-healing systems to reduce outage impacts and restore power faster. Specific projects include building a new power line on Shipyard Boulevard in Wilmington, upgrading lines on River Road, adding strong lines and a self-healing system in South Wrightsville Beach, and upgrading equipment at the 2nd and Walnut intersection in downtown Wilmington. Future upgrades are planned in Whiteville. |
