Dukovany Nuclear Expansion Project

The Czech Republic plans to build two new nuclear reactors at its Dukovany plant to expand the country's nuclear energy capacity. The project aims to at least double the country's nuclear output and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. The new reactors will have an output of over 1,000 megawatts each and are expected to become operational in the second half of the 2030s. The project cost is estimated at over $19 billion, with the government acquiring an 80% majority in the new plant and securing a loan to be repaid over 30 years. The state will guarantee a stable income from electricity production for 40 years. The project is part of a broader strategy to replace coal and meet low emission requirements.
