Description | A 40-foot-long replica of the Durham boat used by General George Washington and his troops to cross the Delaware River in 1776 is being built. The replica will be stationed on dry land at Washington Crossing Historic Park in Bucks County, allowing visitors to climb in and experience a piece of Revolutionary War history. The project involves traditional wooden boat building techniques using historically accurate materials such as white oak and cedar. The boat will be built in sections for easy transport and assembly onsite, with completion targeted for May 2026 to coincide with the Semiquincentennial celebrations. |
