The project entails the acquisition of electric vehicles (EV) and the construction of charging stations around Tajikistan's capital of Dushanbe. The goals of the project include: improving urban transport services, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants, generating new demand for skills and job opportunities for EV drivers and developing the labour market for EVs operation and maintenance. The project sponsor, Sayohon LLC, will acquire up to 100 electric vehicles and will construct 30 charging stations and necessary EV charging infrastructure at its depot as well as at selected locations across the city. European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is financing the project with a senior secured loan of up to $3.0 million, which will consist of a committed $2.0 million Tranche I and an uncommitted $1.0 million Tranche II. Additionally, the loan will be co-financed by EBRD of up to $1 million in the form of equity contribution. The sponsor will also receive an incentive grant of up to $0.5 million financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) under the Finance and Technology Transfer Centre for Climate Change (FINTECC). https://www.ebrd.com/work-with-us/projects/psd/52789.html
