The EU Youth Strategy focusses on engaging, connecting and empowering young people in Europe in, among other areas, democratic life in Europe. It includes the EU Youth Dialogue process, which focusses on the 11 European Youth Goals. During cycle 8, the main objective is Youth Goal 9: Space and Participation for All. Within EU Youth Dialogue young people have the opportunity to be involved in dialogues with policymakers, researchers, experts, and decision makers. It encourages all young people, including unorganised youth and young people with fewer opportunities, to participate in democratic life in Europe. Through this process we contribute towards a positive change in youth policy on a local, sectoral, national and European level and strengthen European citizenship. Implementing the EU Youth Dialogue with youth in the Netherlands has intrinsic and extrinsic value: it not only links European youth policy with Dutch youth policy and vice versa, it also connects different youth field (and youth field connected) actors. Additionally, it leads to new forms and formulas for exchanging knowledge, ideas, experiences and it establishes new bottom-up alliances. This all results in a joint effort of the National Working Group (NWG) partners to enhance (within their specific spheres of competence) youth and social policy at the local, regional, national and European level.
