Dzawada’enuxw First Nation - Padakus Hydropower Project (Construction Phase 2)

The project will increase the energy efficiency of Gway’yi Village of the Dzawada’enuxw First Nation by removing the communities dependence on diesel generated energy by constructing a hydropower system. The project will reduce the diesel usage of the community by approximately 97%. The completed project will reduce diesel usage, greenhouse gas emissions, and the cost to produce electricity for the community. The project works include: - intake structure including weir, coarse trashrack, tyrolean screen, stilling well, IFR and sluice outlet gates; - penstock and related works; - approximately 1.3 km of pipe. - powerhouse facility including turbine, generator, controls and operator space; - interconnection to the micro-grid; and, - related works.
