Description

Description

Civil Law Notaries are legal professionals who are appointed by the authorities of the European Union (EU) Member States to ensure the impartial respect of legality in non-contentious legal relationships that are significant for citizens, families, and companies. They play a critical role in various areas, such as the conclusion of marriage contracts and registered partnerships, the protection of people with disabilities and children, the purchase of a family home, the settlement of a succession and the fight against money laundering. In a cross-border context, the EU legislation that governs these areas is essential, and notaries are required to apply this legislation while dealing with an increasing number of cases with a foreign element. Cross-border training of notaries in European law is therefore necessary to ensure the effective and coherent application of EU law in civil law areas, which is in line with the objectives and activities supported and promoted by Regulation (EU) 2021/693 of the European Parliament and of the Council. The CNUE is fully committed with the objective of delivering better and more targeted training activities, in order to meet the needs of the practitioners as well as the priorities set at EU level. Therefore, training e-learning training content and face-to-face training activities will be developed between 2024 and 2025 targeting all Notaries of Europe on the following topics: fight against money laundering, Succession regulation, cross-border enforcement of authentic instruments and legal english.
