The development objective of Early Years Nutrition and Child Development Project for Benin is to reduce stunting and improve Early Childhood Development (ECD) outcomes in children under five years of age in targeted communes. This project has four components. 1) The first component, Management and Coordination of Interventions for the Early Years, aims is to improve policy, multisectoral strategy, and governance arrangements for an integrated approach to coordinate implementation of early years’ nutrition and child development interventions. It has the following subcomponents. 1) Planning and Implementation Coordination; (ii) Monitoring, Evaluation and Multi-Stakeholder Learning; and (iii) Project Management. 2) The second component, Community-based Interventions for the Early Years, aims to improve the delivery of the package of services at community level. It has the following subcomponents: (i) Early Child Nutrition and Development; (ii) Communication; and (iii) Integrated Primary School Feeding and Nutrition. 4) The fourth component, Contingency Emergency Response Component, aims to allow for rapid reallocation of project proceeds in the event of a natural or man-made disaster or crisis that has caused, or is likely to imminently cause, a major adverse economic and/or social impact.
