Description | Ellewewa Power Company Pvt. Ltd. developed the 10MW Ellewewa biomass plant. The project was expected to generate 87GWh annually. The project was located Phala Elewawa GSD, Dimbulagala DSD, Polonnaruwa District, North Central Province. Reportedly, EarthWatts was involved in the development of the project. The Environmental Impact Assessment was submitted in July 2009. Construction was expected to start mid-2009 and commissioning was expected for mid-2010. In 2012, the project held a generation license with the Ceylon Electricity Board. Total project cost was ESTIMATED at US$10 million, based on US$1 million/MW.
