Description | The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is a 1,443-kilometer (897-mile) oil pipeline stretching from the Tilenga and Kingfisher oil fields in Uganda to the Tanzanian port of Tanga for export. The pipeline is being constructed by TotalEnergies and is expected to begin operations in 2027, with production projected to last around 20 years. The project has raised environmental and human rights concerns, including displacement of over 100,000 people and potential damage to protected areas and ecosystems. |
