It aims to strengthen Kenya's energy security by reducing reliance on imported refined petroleum products and serving the wider East African market including Tanzania, Uganda, and South Sudan. The refinery is projected to process more than 700,000 barrels of crude oil per day and is part of Dangote Industries' expansion strategy. Construction is expected to take between 30 months and three years before operations begin. |
