East and Central Africa Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Project

planned

A cross-border electric rail project to link railway networks from Tanzania through Burundi to eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The project aims to facilitate the movement of goods and services to landlinked countries, boost trade, reduce transport costs, and enhance the competitiveness of Dar es Salaam Port. The SGR will connect Uvinza, Musongati, Gitega, Bujumbura, Uvira, and Kindu, serving as a crucial link between landlinked nations and the port.
