Description

City Project No. 83522 This project involved upgrading the domestic water main and sanitary sewer pipelines along Burlingame Avenue, as well as, installing a new water main at the Anza Lagoon Bridge. The existing water and sewer mains were beyond their service life and needed to be replaced. The slope of the sewer pipe was adjusted to improve sewage flow. Scope: The work consisted of installing new water mains in the City of Burlingame and San Mateo County. Approximately 100 linear feet of new 10-inch, 3,350 linear feet of new 8-inch, 1,350  linear feet of new 6-inch, and 115 linear feet of new 4-inch Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) and Ductile Iron water main on East Burlingame Avenue and Anza Lagoon Bridge. For Burlingame Avenue the existing 4-inch, 6-inch, and 10-inch water mains were abandoned in place. The construction method was anticipated to be conventional open trench and the water main will typically be installed at three to five feet depth of cover. Work consisted of installing a new 2-inch water service, approximately 220 linear feet, to an existing bathroom at Washington Park. For Anza Lagoon Bridge, the existing 12-inch water main on the bridge was left in place and a new 8” pipe liner with be slip-lined and short sections main after the bridge has a conventional open trench with the water main typically installed at three to five feet depth of cover. The sanitary sewer work consisted of approximately 20 linear feet of new 12-inch, 1,860 linear feet of new 8-inch, 50 linear feet of new 6-inch, and 930 linear feet of new 4-inch Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC SDR26) & HDPE (DR 17) sewer mains along with 8 new manholes on Burlingame Avenue between East Lane and Dwight Road. The existing 6-inch sewer mains were removed to install the increased size mains. The sanitary sewer work also consisted of approximately 215 linear feet of new 1-1/4” HDPE SDR 11 force main and new grinder pump for an existing bathroom at Washington Park. The construction method was anticipated to be conventional open trench with one section to be pipe-burst and the sewer main to be installed at a slightly deeper elevation than current depth of the existing sewer system.
