Description

Description

The Trump administration announced a pause on leases for five major offshore wind projects along the East Coast, citing national security concerns. The projects, which were already under construction or permitted, now face uncertainty. The suspension affects Vineyard Wind in Massachusetts, Revolution Wind in Rhode Island and Connecticut, Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind, and two New York projects — Sunrise Wind and Empire Wind. Combined, the projects represent roughly $25 billion in investment, were projected to power more than 2.5 million homes, and create about 10,000 jobs.
