The project will improve broadband connectivity by installing fibre-optic lines and connecting telecommunication equipment to connect town assets to the Columbia Basin Broadband Corporation’s (CBBC) regional fibre-optic network. In addition, eight municipal Wi-Fi access points will be installed on telecommunication poles throughout town to provide the majority of residents with 25+ Mbps Internet service, including 100 Mbps service to 85% of households increasing the speed from the current 5 Mbps. The project works include: - Installation of fibre-optic infrastructure; - Point-of-presence (POP) facility to connect town fiber lines with Columbia Basin Broadband Corporation’s (CBBC) regional fibre-optic network; - Telecommmunication equipment to connect fibre infrastructure to CBBC regional network POP, town assets, and municipal Wi-Fi access points; - Approximately eight municipal Wi-Fi access points on telecommunication poles connected directly to fibre lines, where possible, or via point-to-point radio with fibre lines, where more practical; and, - Related works.
