The project involves the demolition of the East Wing of the White House to make space for a new ballroom. The design has undergone multiple revisions with fluctuating capacity figures and architectural elements. The project includes a 90,000-square-foot addition with a 22,000-square-foot ballroom accommodating approximately 1,000 guests, a commercial kitchen, First Lady's offices, and a movie theater below. The design features classical vocabulary with neoclassical elements such as Corinthian columns and porticoes, but with noted inconsistencies and functional anomalies.
