Description | The Eastern Green Link 4 (EGL4) is a subsea electricity interconnector project between Scotland and England with a capacity of 2GW. It involves laying over 640 km of cable, mostly subsea, and building two high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converter stations to enable long-distance electricity transmission at 525,000 volts. The project will link Fife in Scotland with Norfolk in England and is expected to transport enough renewable energy to supply more than 1.5 million homes. The main construction phase will begin in 2028, with commissioning scheduled for 2033. |
