Description
Description | The Eastern Indonesia Region Transport Project focuses on the preservation, and development of national, and other strategic road assets, by improving the road network, while reducing transport costs, and, by supporting a sustainable planning, and management decentralization of all primary National, Provincial, and Kabupaten roads. The components call for: 1) implementation of a periodic road maintenance, and improvement program. Specific subprojects will implement road improvements, and replace bridges, based on an economic analysis for integrated road management systems; 2) identification of accident black-spot locations, development, and implementation of accident mitigation measures on priority locations, followed by investigation, and monitoring measures to ensure traffic safety; 3) consulting services to support project implementation, as well as provision of funds to meet incremental operating costs, and equipment required for project implementation; and, 4) technical assistance, and training provision, to support the road sector requirements, with an emphasis on facilitating the ongoing decentralization process. |
