Food safety and healthy eating are vital for the well-being of European citizens and the sustainability of food systems. Safe food protects public health and builds trust in the agricultural sector, while healthy eating combats rising challenges like obesity and cardiovascular diseases, promoting longer, healthier lives. The EU's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) plays a critical role in ensuring sustainable farming, food safety, and access to nutritious, affordable food, while also fostering environmental conservation. This campaign aims to raise public awareness of CAP’s contributions to a stable, safe, and healthy food supply and its support for sustainable agriculture. Activities will include a media campaign, a high-profile conference, student workshops and camps, and videos showcasing real-life organic farming stories in Cyprus. These efforts will highlight CAP’s impact on food security, public health, and environmental sustainability, engaging diverse audiences, including students, organic farmers, rural communities, and NGOs. To achieve its goals, Eat Wisely Cyprus will implement targeted communication campaigns, focusing on young people through interactive workshops and a summer camp. It will also promote organic farming and sustainable practices via media initiatives and public events during Cyprus's EU Presidency in 2026. An Agriculture Conference and Expo will bring stakeholders and experts together to explore CAP’s role in promoting healthy lifestyles and sustainable farming. The project will deliver impactful awareness campaigns through leaflets, videos, public events, radio spots, email campaigns, and social media, ensuring a widespread understanding of CAP's essential contributions to food quality, public health, and environmental care.
