Description
Description | "From 2022 to 2025, EBU and its members will foster the development of an inclusive Europe for blind and partially sighted (BPS) citizens. We will collaborate with European and national authorities so that BPS persons’ rights are fully addressed in future legislation, in particular through the European Semester and the EU Disability Platform. We will contribute to policy-making/revision processes, respond to EC consultations and draft position papers. EBU and its members will help implement EU legislation and policies. Young BPS persons will improve their capacity to find a job. BPS women will be empowered to mainstream gender issues within their organisations’ activities. EBU members’ staff will receive training to create basic audio-description for videos. BPS Internet users will also receive training to better comment on websites’ accessibility. A toolkit on fast braille reading will be developed. EBU will also raise awareness on BPS citizens’ daily life in a wide number of areas. National good practices will be collected and feed into (multilingual) awareness-raising or advocacy tools. EBU will produce specific videos to fight prejudices and disrespect suffered by BPS women and to encourage employers to recruit BPS persons. The EBU podcast will be aired every 2 months and our members and Focus newsletters will be published. Our network will be further strengthened. We will recruit an External Communication Officer, a Project Officer and a Membership Officer. Our Leadership Forum will meet to align national actions with EBU’s ones. EBU leaders, staff and members will meet multilaterally or bilaterally. Partially sighted persons will learn how to better advocate for their rights. Finally, EBU will hold its 12th General Assembly (2023), celebrate its 40th anniversary (2024), hold 4 annual thematic conferences and 2 specific events, allowing national experts and leaders to collaborate, thus consolidating EBU as the #1 network of BPS persons in Europe." |
