Description
Description | ECA LNG Phase 1 is a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal on Mexico's Pacific Coast in Baja California. It consists of a single-train liquefaction facility with a nameplate LNG capacity of 3.25 million tonnes per annum, supplied with U.S. natural gas from the Permian Basin. The project leverages synergies with an existing regasification plant to optimize construction costs and aims to export LNG primarily to Asian markets via the shortest maritime route. TotalEnergies holds a 16.6% stake and will offtake 1.7 Mtpa of LNG for 20 years, being the sole offtaker during the ramp-up phase. The project is expected to reach substantial completion in summer 2026 and enter commercial operations shortly thereafter. |
