Description
Description | The ECA LNG Phase 1 export terminal is a liquefied natural gas facility located on Mexico's Pacific coast in Baja California. It features a single liquefaction train with a production capacity of 3.25 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa). The terminal is supplied with natural gas from the Permian Basin in the United States and is strategically positioned to export LNG to Asia-Pacific markets via a shorter shipping route that avoids the Panama Canal. The project is jointly developed by Sempra Infrastructure and TotalEnergies, with TotalEnergies holding a 16.6% equity stake and having secured rights to purchase 1.7 Mtpa of LNG for 20 years. The project is in its commissioning phase and has recently dispatched its first LNG cargo, marking the beginning of commercial exports. |
