Description

Description

ECA LNG Phase 1 is a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal currently under commissioning on Mexico’s Pacific Coast, in Baja California. It consists of a single-train liquefaction facility with a nameplate LNG capacity of 3.25 million tons per year (MMtpy), supplied with U.S. feed gas from the Permian Basin in Texas and New Mexico. The project leverages synergies with an existing regasification plant to optimize construction costs. TotalEnergies holds a 16.6% stake and will offtake 1.7 MMtpy of LNG for 20 years from the start of commercial operations, being the sole offtaker during the ramp-up phase. The project is strategically located to serve Asian and Pacific Basin markets via the shortest maritime route, reducing transportation times and costs. A second larger phase is under development at the same site.
