Description

Description

The Ecatepec-Piramides Toll road is a 22.2-kilometer four lane highway that has been operated as a toll road since 1965 (initially operated by the government, it was transferred in 1991 to the private operator). The concession was first granted for a period of 4 years and was later extended until 2011. PAPSA (Tribasa - 70%; CIESA - 30%) owns 100% of the project company. The rehabilitation work started in Jan. 1991 and finished in Jun. 1991. The project was funded in part by contractor financing, private local commercial financing and financing obtained through local Mexican capital markets. The revenues of this toll road were securitized in 1993 by Tribasa (the second major toll road trust securitization issued by the company; the first one was the Toluca Toll road deal completed in 1992). (Note: all values were converted to 1991 values from their original 1993 values.) In July 2006, Mexico's transport and communications ministry (SCT), extended the highway concession by ten years to Pinfra, formerly Tribasa. The extension was given to ensure holders of stock certificates in Bancomext, a national foreign trade bank; and to recover the investment made in construction. 2006: "Ecatepec-Pirámides recientemente obtuvo la autorización de la SCT de México para extender por 10 años el plazo de concesión de la autopista [hasta el 2021]."
