The objective of the action is to support the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority hosting the European Consumer Centre Malta to provide consumers with information on their rights related to cross-border purchases of goods and services, advice, and assist them where appropriate to enable them to take full advantage of the internal market. The grants shall cover the activities of ECC Malta in 2024 and 2025. ECC-Net deals with issues arising from legislation protecting consumer economic interest where there is a cross-border element and at least a consumer and a trader are involved. Where not in conflict with national arrangements, the ECC-Net also handles requests for information that do not originate from a cross-border issue. The ECC-Net does not deal with cases where the trader or the consumer resides outside the European Union, Norway, Iceland and the United Kingdom. Furthermore, ECC Net cannot represent the consumer before a Court, provide Redress, enforce the law and/or apply sanctions on traders. All services offered by ECC-Net are free of charge for the consumer. There are six main objectives of the ECC-Net listed in Article 3 of the Vademecum, which are as follows: 1. Case-handling 2. Supporting Redress and enforcement 3. Communication, information and promotion 4. Active participation in Network activities 5. Cooperation with stakeholders 6. Ensuring a uniformly high-quality standardised service
