Description
Description | This action aims to support the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA) in hosting the European Consumer Centre Malta (ECC Malta) for 2026 and 2027. ECC Malta forms part of the ECC-Net, a network dedicated to informing and assisting consumers in exercising their rights in the context of cross-border purchases of goods and services within the Internal Market. The Centre provides guidance, handles complaints, and helps facilitate amicable resolutions between consumers and traders across EU Member States, Norway, Iceland, and the United Kingdom. ECC-Net operates within the framework of EU legislation safeguarding consumers' economic interests and, where not conflicting with national provisions, also responds to general consumer requests for information. The Network does not intervene in disputes outside the covered countries, cannot provide legal representation or redress, and does not have enforcement powers. All services are free of charge for consumers. The action supports the implementation of the six core objectives outlined in Article 3 of the ECC-Net Vademecum: 1. Case-handling 2. Supporting redress and enforcement 3. Communication, information and promotion 4. Active participation in network activities 5. Cooperation with stakeholders 6. Ensuring a uniformly high-quality standardised service. |
