ECCAR 2022 - The European Coalition of Cities against Racism (ECCAR) is a network of cities sharing experiences in order to improve their policies to fight racism, discrimination and xenophobia.The Coalition understands cities as motors of diversity for a Europe that is committed to be “united in diversity”. With its work ECCAR protects its inhabitants from racism, xenophobia and discrimination in its intersecting forms to build cities for us all. The purpose of the association within the statutes of ECCAR states a very clear mission that enables the Coalition to shape European cities that contribute to the goal of the first EU anti-racism action plan: a Union of equality. ECCAR 2022 focuses on facilitating the exchange of good practices implemented in the member cities to combat racism. A new standardised online reporting tool for ECCAR member cities based on the 10 Point Plan of Action will be developed and tested and 4 thematic working groups on the topics of Antisemitism, Antigypsyism, Anti-Muslim Racism and the UN Decade for People of African Descent & Colonial Heritage will collect, discuss and analyze best practices on the specific topics mentioned. This exchange of good practices through the reporting tool and the working groups will enable the collection, evaluation and the exchange of good practices among ECCAR members, facilitate the member cities’ reporting procedure,create inputs for a structured, measure-specific database, create a structured collection of good practices on the topics of Antigypsyism, Antisemitism, Anti-Muslim Racism and the UN Decade for People of African Descent & Colonial Heritage and thereby facilitate needs based mutual learning experiences and capacity building.
